I'm broke and living it up in New Orleans, LA. I would tell you I'm a Democrat, but that would be superfluous.

Front page WaPo: McCain Lies (Update x7)

Tue Jul 29, 2008 at 07:35:26 PM PDT

Okay, I tried to contact the recommended diarist, but they haven't left a comment in over two hours, and this needs our attention.  As soon as they update, I will remove this diary, but this is HUGE news.

Tomorrow's WaPo FRONT PAGE article is entitled: McCain Charge Against Obama Lacks Evidence

Its lede:

For four days, Sen. John McCain and his allies have accused Sen. Barack Obama of snubbing wounded soldiers by canceling a visit to a military hospital because he could not take reporters with him, despite no evidence that the charge is true.

Tim Kaine: Next VP?

Mon Jul 28, 2008 at 02:50:44 PM PDT

According to Politico Tim Kaine is very high on the short list.

As Senator Barack Obama turns to the choice of his running mate, Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine has emerged as one of the campaign’s potential finalists, sources familiar with conversations in Richmond and in Chicago said.

Kaine, an early Obama supporter whose biography nicely dovetails with the Illinois senator’s, "ranks very, very high on the short list," said a source who has spoken recently to senior Obama aides about Kaine.

Kaine "is getting a critical examination," the source said.

Or whoever in the Obama communications department managed this coup.  Not one, not two, but all three major television anchors are going to be following Obama to Europe.

My grandmother has an online newsletter

Sat Jul 12, 2008 at 04:53:27 PM PDT

As you can see from the title of this diary, my grandmother has an online newsletter.  She's 95.

The newsletter in question is about candlewick, a type of glass.  She writes every month on her iMac, using AOL.  It's not difficult.

Cindy McCain has no class

Wed Jun 18, 2008 at 04:02:20 PM PDT

I think there is a reason that Michelle has a higher ratings than Cindy McCain.  Where Michelle shows class and beauty and grace, Cindy has none.  The latest is Cindy's Personal Attack on Michelle during Good Morning America.

Per ABC:

"I don't know why she said what she said.  Everyone has their own experience. I don't know why she said what she said, all I know is that I have always been proud of my country."

Louisiana votes!

Sat May 03, 2008 at 04:38:40 PM PDT

Hey, y'all.

I didn't see an open thread discussing the outcomes of the two special elections in Louisiana today, so I started one.

In case you've been living in a bubble, today LA-06 and LA-01 votes, with a very great shot at winning in LA-06.

Breaking: Early exit polls released UPDATED

Tue Apr 22, 2008 at 02:27:22 PM PDT

You can check out the early exit poll.

What sticks out to me is that 10% of voters were people that changed their registration to vote.  I think this is a good Obama demographic.

Although, it scares me a little that 1 in 5 people said race was most important factor and that 1 in 5 people said gender was the most important factor.  I don't know if this will be good for Obama, or bad for him.

What motivates a troll? (with poll)

Tue Apr 15, 2008 at 01:44:07 PM PDT

I have long pondered the motivation of bloggers.  In my understanding, you blog, comment, et cetera because you are searching out like-minded individuals.  For me, like-minded means progressive, highly intelligent, incredibly attractive people who are thoroughly fed up with the incessant tripe being fed to us by the WingNuts and MSM.

You comment in order to exchange opinions, clarify issues, ask questions, and express your own viewpoint.  It is mind-boggling to think that trolls are actually expressing their own view point when the say things like:

Bill Clinton belogned to an all white member golf club.  Did you know that.  Bill Clinton supposedly the first black president belogned to an all white member golf club.  LOL.

The writer has no concept of grammar or spelling, lacks a relevant point, and doesn't seem to express any viewpoint.

Democrats will beat Crazy Woody in LA-06

Thu Apr 03, 2008 at 02:03:26 PM PDT

I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, which is the seat of the LA-06 district.  There has recently been some surprise over the fact that the seat, which has been solidly held by Republican Richard Baker since 1987 is suddenly leaning towards the Democrat, State Rep. Don Cazayoux.

My shock came not as a result of the poll showing Cazayoux ahead, but that Republicans were dumb enough to choose Woody Jenkins.

Note: While technically neither Jenkins nor Cazayoux has the nomination yet, Jenkins missed winning the Republican nomination outright by only 84 votes and Cazayoux got around 35% in an five-way race.  Don Cazayoux hasn't sealed it up yet, either, but he will.

Heidi Montag hearts McCain, McCain hearts back

Wed Apr 02, 2008 at 01:45:17 PM PDT

Backstory: Yesterday, the resident idiot reality television "star" Heidi Montag endorsed John McCain via US Weekly.  I feel increadibly lame even describing her "career", but let's just say it involves plastic surgery and self-agrandizing tabloid magazine interviews.  She is a proud Republican who is voting for McCain because of his experience.

Her ex-boyfriend's reponse pretty much sums up what I thought upon hearing it:

I don't think anyone cares who Heidi Montag votes for.

But, actually, as I just learned there is one person who cares - John McCain.

More electable = not the best candidate

Thu Mar 20, 2008 at 09:47:09 PM PDT

I'm sorry, but the more I hear Hillary Clinton speak about how she is the "most electable" candidate, the more I dislike her candidacy.  Because, the fundamental argument there is not that she is the best candidate, but rather that she is the candidate most likely to garner the most votes from an impressionable electorate.

And I realize that we have to have a Democrat as President, trust me, I'm not naive.

Barack made Michelle cry (Updated with picture)

Tue Mar 18, 2008 at 06:26:43 PM PDT

I've read a lot of comments on a lot of different blogs and news articles, and one thing I keep hearing is how this is all a "political speech" aimed to prevent Sen. Obama's nomination from spiraling out-of-control.  I hear how it's all a lie, how he doesn't really believe what he wrote, all these smears, and I can understand it up to a point.

I can understand how people have been fed lies for their whole lives by one politician after another; how it's become so hard to let their hearts go, to let their souls believe.  But, I stand here today and say that this is the man to believe in, not just for his speech, but because his speech made Michelle Obama cry.

Hillary's dignity and class for sale on eBay

Fri Mar 14, 2008 at 08:56:03 AM PDT

Apparently drewt21 has found "Hillary Clinton's Dignity and Class" and has put it up for sale on eBay.

According to them:

You are bidding on very elusive and now discarded pieces of Hillary Clinton's character.  According to media reports and her own campaign's statements, Mrs. Clinton has apparently decided to severe all ties with her class and dignity after her loss in the Iowa primary.

Breaking: Gravelanche goes green!

Wed Mar 12, 2008 at 03:24:29 PM PDT

It's all over folks.  Now that Gravel has apparently defected to the Green Party, no one is going to care about who wins the Democratic nomination.  Gravel is now supporting the campaign of Green Party Candidate Jesse Johnson.

Full story after the break.
